YES, i'm engaged!! the wait is over!   since ppl. are posting my engagement on their xanga- i guess will finally make an effort to post an entry since i suppose i would rather ppl. read it on my xanga
So...  (I'll try to make this as succinct as possible)

I was up in the Seattle area this past Christmas, since my sister (joanna) and brother in law (phil) normally spend Christmas up there with phil's family.  My parents and I decided to go up also to have one last family time.  This is their last Christmas in the states for awhile since they are moving to China next month.  Plus if they came back for visits, it would only be in the summer time.
So on Tuesday, our family hung out in Leavenworth, WA (its a really cute Bavarian village about 4 hours away from Seattle), and after lunch we were scheduled to go on a sleigh ride. Yes, w/ snow and horses and all.  When we arrived at the place, the lady (Susan) at the counter informed us that since we were the "1,000th" person to sign up, we win a free prize.  And since it was FREE, of course it got me excited . Susan asked who the youngest in the family was, and  I was handed a clue that would eventually lead to a series of clues pointing to the final "prize".
Actually by the fourth clue, I was thinking it was getting cheesy and commented to my sister that they probably gave a treasure hunt and prize to everyone to get esp. the kids to get them excited.  At that pt., Susan pointed me outside towards the horses and sleighs.  When I finally found the correct sleigh, I noticed a bunch of roses in the back and thought it was really weird that they gave red roses for a prize since roses weren't appropriate for little kids.  My second thought was that the roses were probably a surprise for my sister from Phil.
Then I saw a card w/ my name on it, and it was from Dan.  So that was the first shock; when I asked my parents whether Dan was there, the "driver" of the sleigh, turned around and it was Dan!! (in disguise with his bandana and his dad's old coat- haha)  He had prepared a speech, which he recited, and got then got down on one knee.  I think I was actually in shock for awhile and my family told me afterwards that I wouldn't stop asking questions, since I was so surprised to see him!  So he had to repeat the question-  and  I said yes, of course, and  we went on the sleigh ride.  And it was a beautiful ride, right around dusk, and there was snow all around us- and the horses names were Sunny and Sunday.  And all the other customers were congratulating us.  Then that evening  Dan took me to an Italian restaurant and we celebrated w/ some yummy food.
So that's the basic story.  The funny thing was, Monday night, I dreamt that I received a ring, however- it was cubic zirconia!  My mom just laughed Tuesday morning when I told her.  Another funny thing is that my sister's mother in law, a few days earlier, actually slipped and almost gave away the surprise, and mentioned something about Dan coming up to visit, but I didn't catch it at all.
Apparently Dan had emailed my mom and sister a few weeks before and they had planned it all out, down to the last detail.  Dan had flown in the night before and spent the night at Chongsun's house; I had no idea even though I was on the phone with him Monday night.  In fact, I was kinda upset since it seemed like he didn't want to talk and was brushing me off.
So he drove the 4 hours to the Leavenworth area the next day, Tue., and made it just in time, arriving only 20 min. or so before all of us did.  Another cool thing- the ring that Dan gave me is actually a family heirloom, really beautiful-  his grandma's ring, and it fits pretty well (but I may have it re-fitted so it'll fit even better).  It was really sweet and thoughtful of Dan to plan it all out, and to even fly to Washington for just 2 days just to surprise me, not to mention the snowy conditions we had to deal with to fly out of Seattle, 2 days later.  I was definitely pleasantly surprised.
So whew, its been a long journey of dating and we're finally engaged!! Thank you God!  I just thank God for His faithfulness in all the up and down times; He's been with us both every step of the way, and we've grown tremendously.  So save the date!! We're thinking July of this year...  hee hee, at this rate, when i post next, i'll be married already!

this is a record!!- i'm updating my xanga for the third time in the month of april... now that i'm not constantly doing schoolwork, i have more time.  in fact, yesterday i went to baskin robbins twice (karen and i were the two piggies who went twice) once before prayer mtg., and once after for our free scoops

my graduation was great (one of the shortest i've ever been to)- thanks to everyone who came out despite the 4 hr. drive- i really appreciate it!!  turned out we were able to BBQ at simpson even though it was initially "against their policy"- but God hooked us up, and even provided the cafeteria's huge gas grill for alan hom & co. to grill all the meat.  my parent really really liked the chicken for some reason- they kept talking about it, so i was happy.  if u guys want to see pics- check out jeff and serena's site (i have no idea how to load pics)

and to top it all off, on sunday, ted and jeremy mek. presented me w/ a super nice graduat'n present from all the youth, young adults, and parents, and i'm not sure who else...- a brand new taylor!! wow!! (its a guitar, for those who don't know)  w/ a "pink poodle case" (ted seemed to be really proud of the case  )  it was the nicest gift!! i wonder how much it cost, and i was suprised that it was actually kept a secret!  thanks everyone for it also!!

and even more amazing, is that i truly believe that this guitar is the actual fulfillment of pastor cruz's prophecy from 5-6 years ago- he prophesied that God would give me a new guitar. i had thought the one that the  missionary bobby perry gave me (for free) was the fulfillment, 2 years ago, even though it was used, since it was "new" to me. But, i know this one is it! Praise God.  ...as Susan Bagley said, sometimes it takes even 10 years or more for all the details of a prophecy to be worked out, but God will ultimately work it all out.    I feel really blessed and give Him thanks!

i'm actually updating my xanga, after 214 days   i actually have a lot more time now- since i'm finally finally graduating from simpson college in a few weeks, and getting my M.Min. (Masters in Ministry) after working on this program for 5 years!!  (or maybe it was even 5 1/2 years!) Praise God!  i thought (and i'm sure many ppl. thought it too) i would never graduate and be done!  hard to imagine, huh?  so for all you guys out there planning on going to grad. school- i say, definitely just do it all in one shot, be a full time student and just get it done; otherwise, you may be working on a program for as long as me.  i was thinking, i could've gotten a Ph.D. by now

actually, i wasn't really excited until i found out that my parents and sister already booked their plane ticket, and will be coming up to see me walk, so i'm looking forward to graduating.  but at the same time, even finishing my last paper was kinda anti-climatic... but now i know all (well, a lot, all) about the book of Zechariah- maybe i just need to celebrate!! Dan was really cute- he took me to Malibu Grand Prix yesterday to celebrate.  Guys, no matter how old they are, once they get to drive fast things, are all kids at heart.  okee, 'til next time...     Zechariah 4: 6, "Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord Almighty."

okay, haha- i've finally decided to update my xanga- after a lot of confusion, i realized (w/ some help) that i had to log in first to update my xanga.  don't laugh- xanga is completely new to me, and it was a little confusing....

i'm sure its a lot easier actually to update it regularly, since otherwise you have to sum up 2 months of life or more, in a paragraph- which is pretty difficult

...i'm still munching away at all the leftover food we made the jr. highers eat or play with at the Elisha fun night.  i'm still laughing now, picturing all the junior highers scarfing (do ppl. still use this term?) down an avocado and jars of baby food... :)  i have yet to try baby food- but i still have one jar left in my office, if anyone wants it

anyhow, GOD is good! :) any of you ever feel bored or apathetic?  I sensed God saying to me yesterday during the worship- to just reject that spirit of apathy and boredom... lots of times its too easy to dwell on things that just drag you down. so I bless all of you to welcome God's work of renewal and creation in you!

'til next time, which may be months from now... :)
